The Short Answer
Yes. Disney Frozen 3 is officially in development and scheduled to open in theaters on November 24, 2027. There is no official trailer yet, and Disney has not revealed the plot.
Is There Gonna Be a Frozen 3? How We Know It Is Real
The film has moved from rumor to confirmed project through a clear timeline:
- February 2023: Disney CEO Bob Iger announced that a third Frozen film was in the works.
- Later in 2023: Iger said on Good Morning America that Jennifer Lee and her team were developing two stories, which pointed to a possible fourth film too.
- August 2024: Disney showed a concept for Frozen III at D23 and revealed the release had moved from November 2026 to November 2027.
- September 2024: Lee stepped down as Disney Animation’s chief creative officer so she could write and direct Frozen III and Frozen IV.
So if you are asking “will there be Frozen 3,” the answer is a confirmed yes.
When Is the Frozen 3 Release Date?
Frozen 3 is scheduled for November 24, 2027, in the Thanksgiving weekend slot that Disney has used for its biggest animated films. Older articles still list November 2026, but that date was pushed back. International dates may differ, and release plans can still change, so check Disney’s official announcements closer to the time.
Frozen 3 Release Date Trailer When Will We See Footage?
At the time of writing, there is no official trailer or teaser. Be careful with fan-made “concept trailers” on YouTube, because many look convincing but are not real. Disney usually shows its first trailers several months before release, and some fans guess a first look about six to nine months ahead, which would point to the first half of 2027. That is only a guess, not an announcement. We will keep this guide updated on Ultimate Fandom when real footage appears.
What Is Frozen 3 About?
Disney has not released an official synopsis, so anyone telling you exactly what Frozen 3 is going to be about is guessing. Here is what we can say honestly.
Light spoilers for Frozen II: that film ended with Anna ruling Arendelle and Elsa living in the enchanted forest as a protector between the human and spirit worlds. Frozen 3 is expected to continue from there, with the sisters finding a way to stay close despite living in different places. Themes of family, change, and responsibility have run through both films, so they could return.
Anything more specific, such as new villains, weddings, or new characters, comes from fan theories and low-quality rumor sites. At Ultimate Fandom, we suggest waiting for official details before getting attached to any theory, since animated stories often change a lot during production.
Who Is in the Frozen 3 Cast and Crew?
Cast: Disney has not published a full official cast list in the sources we checked. Fans expect the main voices from the first two films to return, namely Idina Menzel as Elsa, Kristen Bell as Anna, Josh Gad as Olaf, and Jonathan Groff as Kristoff, but treat this as an expectation until Disney confirms it.
Crew: Jennifer Lee, who co-directed the first two films, is writing and directing. Songwriters Kristen Anderson-Lopez and Robert Lopez, who wrote “Let It Go” and the other songs, are also reported to return, which is good news for fans of the music.
Will There Be a Frozen 4?
Possibly. Iger has said the team is working on two stories, and Lee’s move to write and direct both films supports that. Disney has not announced a separate release date for a fourth movie, so for now, Frozen 4 should be treated as a plan and not a confirmed schedule.
What to Watch Before Frozen 3
If you want a refresher, both Frozen and Frozen II are available on Disney+, along with the Olaf Presents series, where Olaf retells classic Disney stories in his own silly way. Watching Frozen II again is especially useful, since it sets up the story for the next film.
Final Verdict
The question “is there going to be a Frozen 3” now has a clear answer: yes, it is coming, and it is coming in November 2027. Many details are still missing, including the trailer, the story, and the cast list, but the creative team behind the first two films is back. At Ultimate Fandom, we are excited to see where Elsa and Anna’s story goes next.
