The Short Answer
Yes. The Bluey Movie is scheduled to open in theaters on August 6, 2027. A 44-second teaser debuted at D23 in August 2026, but it reveals almost nothing about the plot. Disney and BBC Studios have shared only a one-line story description so far.
Is There a Bluey Movie? How We Know It Is Real
Does Bluey have a movie? It does now, and the path there is clear:
- 2024: Creator Joe Brumm ended season three with a longer special called “The Sign,” and he said a feature film felt like a natural next step.
- September 2025: BBC Studios and Walt Disney Studios, together with Ludo Studio, announced the film and its August 6, 2027 release date.
- August 2026: The first teaser trailer and poster arrived at D23.
So if you are asking “is there a Bluey movie,” the answer is a confirmed yes. This new Bluey movie is being made by the same creative team behind the show, so it is not a fan project or a rumor.
When Will the Bluey Movie Be Released?
The Bluey Movie, also searched as Bluey the Movie or the Bluey film, is set for a global theatrical release on August 6, 2027. That is the answer to “when does the Bluey movie come out in theaters,” though exact dates can differ by country, so check your local cinema listings closer to the time. After its cinema run, the film will stream on Disney+, and in Australia it will also arrive on ABC iview and ABC Kids.
The Bluey Movie Trailer What the First Look Shows
The first look is a 44-second teaser that debuted at D23 on August 14, 2026. It is short and quiet. Bluey and Bingo simply play keepy-uppy with a red balloon in their back garden, which fits the small, everyday charm of the series. The big change is the look. The characters now appear in 3D instead of the flat 2D style fans know from TV.
That is the Bluey movie official trailer so far: an official teaser, not a full trailer. We did not find a longer trailer in our research. If you are searching for the Bluey movie trailer 2027, note that the teaser itself came out in 2026, and a fuller trailer is more likely to appear closer to release. That is a guess based on how studios usually market big family films, not an announcement. We will keep this guide updated on Ultimate Fandom when new footage appears.
What the First Look Hides
For a first look, the teaser keeps its secrets well. Coverage of the footage describes only Bluey, Bingo and a balloon, so it does not show:
- The story: There is no clue about the “big surprise” in the official description.
- The supporting characters: We have not seen how the rest of the cast will look in 3D.
- The tone: It is unclear whether the film will feel as gentle as a seven-minute episode or go much bigger.
- The runtime: We did not find an official length.
Will the Bluey Movie Be 3D?
Yes, in terms of animation style. The film is CG-animated, which is why the teaser looks so different from the TV show. Brisbane studio Cosmic Dino is reported to be handling the animation, while Ludo Studio still produces the film with BBC Studios. One thing is not confirmed: whether cinemas will offer 3D-glasses screenings. The studios have not announced that, so treat it as unconfirmed.
What Is the Bluey Movie About?
The official description says the film takes place on an action-packed day when a big surprise changes everything for Bluey and her family. That is all Disney and BBC Studios have shared. The series follows Bluey, an inexhaustible blue heeler who lives with her Mum, Dad and little sister Bingo, and who turns everyday games into hilarious adventures.
Brumm has said he wants the film to be an event the whole family can enjoy together in cinemas, which suggests a story aimed at kids and parents alike. Anything more specific, such as what the surprise actually is, comes from fan theories. At Ultimate Fandom, we suggest waiting for official details before getting attached to any theory, since animated stories can change a lot during production.
Who Is in the Bluey Movie Cast and Crew?
Cast: Melanie Zanetti (Chilli) and David McCormack (Bandit) are confirmed to return. A full official cast list has not been published in the sources we checked.
Crew: Joe Brumm, the series creator, writes and directs. Richard Jeffery, who directed episodes in seasons one to three, co-directs. Amber Naismith, known for Happy Feet and The Lego Movie, produces, and series composer Joff Bush returns for the score. Ludo Studio produces with BBC Studios, and Walt Disney Studios handles theatrical distribution.
Bluey Movie News What to Expect Next
Bluey movie news should pick up as August 2027 gets closer. Fans can reasonably expect more posters, a longer trailer, and more cast details, though none of this has been scheduled. Until then, be careful with fan-made trailers and “leaked plot” posts, since many look convincing but are not real.
What to Watch Before the Movie
Bluey is available on Disney+ depending on your location, and on BBC iPlayer in the UK. Start with “The Sign,” the longer episode Brumm linked to his move toward a feature film. Then try the season two episode “Movies,” where Bluey takes her first trip to the cinema. It is a fun warm-up for the real thing.
Final Verdict
The question “is there a Bluey movie” now has a clear answer: yes, and it arrives on August 6, 2027. The first look is short and sweet, and it hides most of the story, but the people who made the show are steering the film. At Ultimate Fandom, we are excited to see how the Heeler family handles life on the big screen.
