Before that, new cast member Yani Gellman hinted at an early 2027 window in an Instagram post about his casting. Production started in Pittsburgh on March 13, 2026, and wrapped over the summer, which leaves a few months between the wrap and the premiere.
For context, here is how each season launched:
Earlier seasons premiered on Sundays, so the Friday launch is a notable change.
Here is the short answer: the final season is not confirmed for Netflix. Paramount+ remains the home of the new episodes. Netflix did add Seasons 1 through 4, a total of 40 episodes, on October 5, 2026, which gives newcomers an easy way to catch up. Reports say the library drop pushed the show to No. 4 on Netflix’s global TV chart.
Nothing official links the last eight episodes to Netflix. Ultimate Fandom will update this page if that changes. Until then, treat any claim of a same-day Netflix premiere for Mayor of Kingstown Season 5 as unverified.

Spoiler warning: this section references the Season 4 finale.
The new season opens in the wake of Tracy’s murder and the vengeance Mike and Kyle McLusky took on Callahan. With Agent Hardy closing in, the brothers must protect their secrets while holding together a town that runs on uneasy alliances. Nina Hobbs and Ian Ferguson also have plenty at stake.
What makes Mayor of Kingstown Season 5 different is its finality. With only eight episodes left, every storyline has to count, and fans expect loose ends to finally tie up.
The final season has eight episodes, down from ten in each of the first four seasons. That brings the series total to 48 episodes. Paramount+ has not released episode titles, runtimes, or a weekly drop schedule yet. A shorter order usually means fewer detours and faster pacing, which suits a story with a lot to resolve.
Paramount+ announced in January 2026 that the fifth season would be the last. No official statement ties the decision to ratings, budget, or any dispute. Reports note that the creators once hoped for a longer run, but a final season at least gives the story room for a proper farewell. Whatever the reason, Mayor of Kingstown Season 5 is the show’s goodbye.
